A new study released by a leading female investment advisor highlights some significant points about women and investing. ”What Women Want: Understanding the Modern Female Investor” concludes that women don’t know much about investing, they want safe investments, and they prefer to work with smaller money managers who understand their needs and “don’t talk down to them”.
This study looks at the importance of understanding womens roles in investing, as they are quickly becoming the most affluent demographic in the United States, out-surpassing men.
The study highlights the fact that most men don’t outlive their money. She goes on to point out that eighty percent of women will be widowed and fifty percent of marriages end in divorce. However, it is noted that only ten percent of women are concerned about making financial decisions when they find themselves suddenly single. The study emphasizes that is is very important that women think about learning to control their money before they are actually faced with these issues.
